OUR JOURNEY
Founded in 1980 by Andrew and Cynthia Hendry when the New Zealand wine industry was small and relatively unknown, Coopers Creek Vineyard has grown and matured over four decades into a top class winery with a strong international presence.
Coopers Creek continues to innovate, introducing and pioneering promising new grape varieties ideal for New Zealand’s cool-climate regions. Viognier, Albariño, Arneis, Marsanne, and Montepulciano are relatively new to New Zealand, but show great promise. Coopers Creek is meeting a growing demand for these stylish varieties, alongside its long-established reputation for Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Syrah, and Bordeaux reds.
These new varieties are offered under the SV (Select Vineyards) range, in addition to established favourites such as Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Pinot Gris. Each SV wine is crafted to pair beautifully with food and is popular on restaurant lists and with wine enthusiasts.
The top-level Reserve tier delivers wines of exceptional stature, including the iconic Hawkes Bay Swamp Reserve Chardonnay. Supporting the Reserve and SV ranges is the Classics series, offering approachable, fruit-driven wines that are widely available in New Zealand and international markets. Crafting wines that are attractive, inspiring, and stylish has been Coopers Creek’s driving force for the last forty years, and that commitment to pioneering and innovation is unlikely to change.
