Albariño hails from the North West of Spain and Northern Portugal. This wine is so named because it tastes and smells as pure as the peal of a bell, and it was grown by Doug and Delwyn Bell in their vineyard just outside of Gisborne.
This wine is made from the Spanish MS Clone of Albariño and the fruit was hand harvested and trucked up to Auckland for processing in mid-May. The juice was fermented in stainless steel to maintain fruit purity. The wine was then filtered and bottled on July 14th 2020.

Tasting Notes
Colour: At bottling the wine was very pale with light green tints. With time we expect that it will develop some pale gold hints.
Bouquet: Pure and fresh, with hints of citrus and peach.
Palate: Medium bodied and zesty. This wine has a brilliant acid line and this gives the palate real length.
Cellaring
Thus far, our Albariños have been aging more slowly than we expected. The wine is delightful in its youth, but may well age beautifully into the medium term.
Food Matching
Perfect with seafood, chicken and paella
Independent Reviews
“Flavours of white and green peach, there's a dried herb then citrus and stone-mineral quality. A youthful expression on the palate with acidity accentuating the citrus flavours, but also showcasing the tautness of a young wine that will stand the test of time if cellared properly. The peach flavour builds as the wine opens up and a light saline note on the finish layers in additional mouthfeel and freshness. Best drinking 2022 through 2028" Cam Douglas MS, Sept 2022
